The McAllen South Rotary Club has been awarded a district grant for its Shade for Shelter Animals Project. The club is in the process of finalizing a date for the event, but the project, in conjunction with The Palm Valley Animal Center, and Laurie P. Andrews PAWS Center, will provide the animals of the shelter a shaded, much cooler place to play and socialize. With record-breaking temperatures regularly presenting themselves in South Texas, this project could not have come at a better time. Palm Valley Animal Center is a 501(c)3 animal welfare organization who's Mission Statement is to care for homeless, companion animals, and enhance the relationship between animals and people through adoptions, education and community outreach. PVAC and PAWS rely on grants, donations, and volunteers. For more information on how to get involved, please contact the shelter at 956-686-1141.
